Visa
Visa: update September 1, 2026: You do not need a visa for a stay of less than 30 days in Thailand, provided you are a Western national. This is valid from September 15, 2026.
If you are not from Europe, US, UK, Canada, Australia, …, you must check with the Thai embassy yourself to see whether or not a visa is required.
For stays longer than 30 days, you will need a (tourist) visa. Please contact the Thai Embassy in your country for further information and to apply.
Passport
- still valid for at least 6 months after your return to your home country
- in impeccable condition (no creases, tears, water damage, …)
- at least 1 blank page remaining
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)
From 1 May 2025, all international travellers must complete the TDAC online. The TDAC replaces the previous paper arrival card (TM6 form). You can complete it from 72 hours (3 days) before your arrival in Thailand. This applies to arrivals by air, land or sea. The official website for submitting the application: https://tdac.immigration.go.th. To complete the form, you will need details from your passport, your flight ticket and your first hotel booking.
Requirements on arrival at Bangkok Airport
Make sure you have the following in order, as the Thai immigration authorities may check this:
- a printout of your return flight ticket
- proof of your first night’s stay at a hotel
- 20,000 Thai baht (approximately €530) in cash per person (or 40,000 baht per family) to prove that you have sufficient funds for your stay in Thailand. Cash in baht or euros/dollars; debit and credit cards are not accepted by the Thai immigration authorities.
The above requirements are legally mandatory; you may be subject to checks upon arrival at Bangkok Airport.
Do not bring to Thailand
Absolutely forbidden, subject to severe penalties (even imprisonment):
- E-cigarettes and vaping equipment
- Cannabis (not even for personal use)
