For children, Khao Sok is not a stopover but an adventure park: sleeping in a real treehouse, canoeing past macaques, searching for tarantulas with a flashlight in the evening and swimming in the river by day. We did the excursions ourselves and saw along the way how well the guides here handle children. These are the 3 lodges where a family is best off.

Our Jungle House
Sleeping in a treehouse is the experience of the trip for children, and Our Jungle House has the best ones: solid treehouses with mosquito nets and a private bathroom, plus roomier family bungalows for those who prefer to sleep with the whole family on one floor. The river at the door has calm swimming spots, and the village with restaurants is a few minutes’ walk away.

Khao Sok Riverside Cottages
The riverside cottages with a terrace above the water are practical for families: roomy enough, affordable, and from the hammock the children look out over the river where macaques come by in the afternoon. The location within walking distance of the village saves the hassle of transport.

THANYAWANA Glamping Tents
The luxury alternative: air-conditioned safari tents a ten-minute walk from the park entrance, with their own swimming pool with bar and a restaurant where children also feel at home. After a day of canoeing and elephant excursions, the children dive straight into the pool. In the evening there is an outdoor fireplace for a last chat.

Frequently asked questions about Khao Sok with children
From what age is Khao Sok fun with children?
The canoe trip, the elephant experience and the short walks are doable from about 4 to 5 years old; the treehouse is a treat at any age. For the lake tour with overnight stay and the night safari we count on about 6 and older; long treks and the Nam Talu Cave are for teenagers.
Is the jungle safe with children?
Yes, provided you follow the usual rules: stay on the paths, do not feed the monkeys, and wear closed shoes in the evening. The lodges are set up for this and the guides keep a close eye on children; we saw that again and again during our own excursions.
Can you sleep on the lake with children?
Certainly, and older children love it. Then choose an accommodation with family rooms and keep in mind the deep water right around the pontoon; life jackets are ready everywhere. Take a look at our guide to floating hotels on Cheow Lan Lake.

Conclusion
Khao Sok is one of the best things you can give a child in Thailand: two or three days of real adventure instead of yet another swimming pool. Choose Our Jungle House for the treehouse experience, Riverside Cottages for affordable convenience, or THANYAWANA Glamping Tents if you want everything taken care of.
