Benchakiti Park: Top choice
Why you should visit: This modern city park is considered the best-maintained park in Bangkok and is an absolute must-see.
What to expect:
- A trail of almost 2 km around Lake Benchakiti
- Additional paved paths for longer walks or leisurely strolls
- The 1.6 km Green Mile footpath to Lumpini Park (perfect for walkers)
- Elevated walkways with views of the skyline
- New woodland areas for peaceful walks amongst the trees

Suan Luang Rama IX: For longer distances
Why it’s special: This is where the Bangkok Post International Mini Marathon 2025 will take place – that says it all!
What to expect:
- An impressive 5 km main route (ideal for runners, but can also be walked in sections)
- Connection to Nong Bon Lake Park for even more variety
- Beautifully landscaped themed gardens (perfect for peaceful strolls)
- Large lake with pedalos
- Perfect for both casual walkers and serious runners
Practical information:
- Location: 1.5 km from Suan Luang Rama IX MRT station
- Opening hours: Daily 05:00–19:00
- Cost: 20 baht between 09:00 and 17:00, free at other times
- Tip: Go early for free entry and to beat the heat!
Lumpini Park: The classic
Why everyone walks and strolls here: Bangkok’s green lung is an oasis of calm right in the heart of the city.
What to expect:
- A 2.5 km trail around the park (suitable for all paces)
- Wide paths for runners, cyclists and walkers
- Plenty of shade from tropical trees (ideal for peaceful walks)
- Chance to spot wildlife (monitor lizards, turtles, birds)
- Excellent facilities

Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park): For nature lovers
What makes it unique: Linked to other parks, offering long routes of 6+ km or shorter walks through varied nature reserves.

- 2.5–3 km main route (can be walked in sections or in its entirety)
- Seamless connection to Chatuchak and Queen Sirikit Parks
- Butterfly garden and insectarium (ideal for walkers)
- Sunflower field (seasonal)
- Bird observatory

Santiphap Park: A hidden gem
Why it’s a hidden gem: A small but lovely park right in the city centre, ideal for a quick morning stroll or a relaxing evening walk.
This is our favourite park, we have lived here for 3 years next to the park.

- A compact 800m–1km loop (several laps for runners, one lap is perfect for walkers)
- Pleasant, shaded paths
- Free outdoor fitness equipment
- Free daily aerobics classes (around 6 pm)

- Ideal for: Short walks, runs and group classes

Romaneenart Park: Where history meets sport
Why it’s fascinating: Built on the site of a former prison, whilst retaining its historic features.
What to expect:
- 500m circuit (multiple laps for runners, perfect for leisurely walks)
- A peaceful, serene setting
- Old watchtowers as a historical backdrop
- Free outdoor gym area

- Location: Near Sam Yot MRT station (Old Town)
- Opening hours: Daily 04:00–21:00
- Perfect for: History buffs
Useful Tips for Running and Walking in Bangkok
Timing: Go early in the morning (before 7 am) or late in the evening to avoid the heat
Hydration: Always take water with you; Bangkok’s humidity is intense (even when walking!)
Transport: All parks are easily accessible by BTS or MRT
What to bring: Lightweight, breathable clothing and comfortable shoes are essential
